Zimbali is a 370 hectare (925 acre) tropical coastal residential and resort estate located on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), 25 km north of Umhlanga Rocks and bordering on the south of the popular holiday destination of Ballito.
Established by Moreland Estates, the property arm of the Tongaat-Hulett Group, Zimbali consists of two distinct but uniquely complementary residential and resort estates - the Zimbali Coastal Forest Estate and the Zimbali Golf Course Estate.
The Zimbali Forest Estate incorporates 250 residential units nestled in an expanse of lush indigenous Coastal Forest offering its inhabitants a luxurious ecological haven.
A 50 hectare reserve within the estate in addition to all primary dune areas have been demarcated as conservation areas providing a refuge to the rich variety of local flora & fauna. Limited pathways and wooden viewing decks through out these areas allow residents to interact with nature.
Zimbali has several natural springwater lakes which create a beautiful habitat to the 85
species of bird, hosts of butterflies and a wide variety of indigenous plant life. Animal life within the forest reserve include bush buck, blue duiker, bushbaby, vervet monkey, banded mongoose and even wild pig.
No pets of any kind are allowed into the estate without the prior permission of estate management.
The eastern frontage of the estate comprises a 3 km stretch of unspoilt beach forming a natural golden boundary between the rich green forest and the warm blue Indian Ocean.
The design philosophy in Zimbali is to create a balance with nature.
The Zimbali lifestyle is founded on serenity and tranquility and an architectural language has been applied to reflect this overall feeling.
Zimbali Lodge hotel overlooks the incredible Indian Ocean and is surrounded by lush
vegetation and beautiful indigenous gardens.
It is a 5-Star boutique hotel offering five-star luxury accommodation, and is decorated to complement the natural surrounding forest. Each room is well stocked with a selection of hot beverages, light snacks and a mini-bar.
